BLAST FROM THE PAST!
We're calling this coming weekend at Crandon Raceway one for the history books...and it certainly is.
Never has so much landed on one race venue at one time- the final two rounds of the World Series season and the crowning of 11 points champions, the Forest County Potawatomi Decision at Sundown Cup race for PRO Light Pickups, World Championship Saturday and the Big One...the BorgWarner Manufacturer's Shootout for the Cup on Sunday.
If you appreciate history, than you will also want to pay particular attention to the Formula 4x4 races this weekend. Round XI is Friday night under the lights as part of the Potawatomi "Night of Thunder" and the Round XII matchup is Saturday when they "race for the ring".
Included in the field will be a couple of special guests from opposite ends of the country. We call him the ageless wonder- Jerry Bundy is a former World Champion back to take another crack at it in his Jeep traveling all the way from Vernon, Conn.
The Brat King (for winning all those Johnsonville Brats that was part of the sponsorship of Formula 4x4 for years) dominated this class a few years ago and it will be interesting to see how he stacks up against today's hotshoes.
He'll also have some company- Jerry Daugherty of Henderson, Nev., who is currently second in the World Series PRO 4x4 point standings, is bringing along his famous but retired Chevy Blazer and has entered it in the SRT race.
That Blazer has been to Crandon twice before, 1988 and 89, finishing with a first and a second. And take a look at the restored version below, it's a real thing of beauty. Both of these guys are former desert rats who also found great success at short course venues. Wouldn't it be something if one of these blasts from the past found the winner's podium?

THE NUMBERS TELL THE STORY
When we say just about anyone can win in our competitive WSORR classes we aren't kidding. Ponder these numbers- in the ten rounds of World Series races, there have been 52 different winners in the eleven WSORR classes. Six different winners in Stock Truck and 1600 Light Buggy, and five different winners in PRO 2WD, PRO Super Buggy, and Formula 4x4.
And that has helped to make this final weekend a critical one in terms of crowning new champions. We know for sure that there will be new World Series champions in PRO 4x4, PRO 2WD, PRO Light Pickup, 1600 Buggy, 1600 Light Buggy and Enduro Truck.
And defending 2007 champs are trailing at the moment in PRO Super Buggy, Super Stock Truck and Stock Truck. Only 2007 champs Dave DeMaegd in Formula 4x4 and Rob Weiland in Classix are leading their classes with just two races to go and neither has clinched this year's title yet.
As if there wasn't enough at stake with those World Championship rings on Saturday! You will see a lot of celebrating all weekend long as new World Series season champs are crowned. It is going to be very busy in Winner's Circle...just the way we like it.
