“FIRST” WSORR REGISTERED DRIVERS TO BE HONORED AT CRANDON RACEWAY(06/6/07)
CRANDON, Wis. – John Mason, a Super Buggy driver who grabbed the top podium spot in Round II of the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) opener in Owatonna, Minn., is one of three racers who will be recognized in front of the large crowd at Crandon Raceway later this month during WSORR Rounds III & IV for being the “first” to join the new Series.
The awards will be presented at the Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run Races presented by Herculiner at Crandon June 23-24.
Mason will be joined in the ceremony by Ross Hoek, a PRO 2WD driver who was the first to sign-up for a 3-year commitment to the Series, and PRO Light Pickup driver Randy Eller, the first member of the PRO division to join WSORR.
"It is truly special to be a part of the World Series and to be number one right out of the box," said Mason. "Our goal is win the WSORR Super Buggy title and defend our World Championship title in the class, and our win in Round II certainly helps," said Mason, who thanked his sponsors including Goodyear, Rhinelander Honda, Hytech Exhaust, Endyn, Peterson Fluid Systems, Yeager Oil, and J.L. French.
Eller had a pair of fourth place finishes in the opening Rounds of WSORR action in his Maxxis Ford truck in the ultra-competitive PRO Light Pickup division and Hoek is expected to debut his new PRO 2WD Herculiner Toyo Ford over the June 23-24 weekend.
All three drivers will receive a commemorative plaque from WSORR, gift certificates and prizes totaling $1,200, and they will be filmed during the presentation to be included in WSORR’s prime time television coverage on SPEED network.
