2007 "NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS" BANQUET HONORS OFF-ROAD RACERS FROM WSORR (11/11/07)
GREEN BAY, Wisc. -- The Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) held its annual banquet this weekend with awards for Series championships in various classes, and recognition for racers, sponsors and tracks.
Off-road racers of the year by division were PRO racer Jeff Kincaid (Argonne, Wisc.) and SRT racer David Waldvogel (Fond du Lac, Wisc.). Rookies of the year were Marty Hart (PRO division, Columbus, La.) and Wesley Frese (SRT division, Abrams, Wisc.).
A big winner of year-end awards and also the Stock Truck racing Series champion was Scott Beauchamp (Escanaba, Mich.). Beauchamp garnered cash and other awards from WSORR contingency sponsors KC HiLites, MSD Ignition, MasterCraft Race Products and Bilstein. Scott Taylor (Belvidere, Ill.) received the MSD PRO racer year-end award.
On hand to accept the WSORR manufacturer award for the PRO Light class was Ron Stukenberg, senior manager, motorsports marketing & operations, Nissan North America, Smyrna, Tenn. Nissan was also the official vehicle of WSORR during 2007. OEM awards were announced for other vehicle and tire makers.
PRO class Series champions honored at the banquet were Chad Hord, Felch, Mich.,(PRO Light Pickup); Taylor (PRO 2WD class); and Johnny Greaves, Abrams, Wisc., (PRO 4x4 class) .
SRT Series champions included Ben Wandahsega (Super Truck, Bark River, Mich.); Beauchamp; Dave DeMaegd (Formula 4x4, Mishawaka, Ind.); Gary Nierop (Super Buggy, Aldergrove, BC, Canada); John Fitzgerald (1600 Buggy, Omaha, Neb.) and Jamie Kleikamp (1600 Light Buggy, Wilson, Mich.). Grassroots division champs were Rob Weiland (Classix, Hortonville, Wisc.) and Larry Manske (Enduro Truck, New Berlin, Wisc).
Twelve racers earning off-road World Championship titles were also honored and presented official World Championship rings. Winners of FCP Chairman’s Cup race, the FCP PRO Light Pickup Challenge Cup race and the annual BorgWarner Shootout were recognized. These racers included Carl Renezeder (Newport Beach, Calif.), Kincaid; and Greaves respectively.
All the action of the 2007 WSORR season can be viewed on SPEED Channel on Saturday’s at 3 p.m. (EST) through March 22, 2008.
WSORR also announced its 2008 race schedule . The 12 round schedule includes racing in Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin. WSORR opens the 2008 campaign May 31-June 1 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. The Series will race twice at Crandon (Wisc.) International Off-Road Raceway (June 21-22 and Labor Day weekend) and twice at Bark River International Raceway (July 12-13 and August 9-10). The Series will also visit Oshkosh, Wisc., for the first time July 26-27. The World Series will again be featured on SPEED Channel in 2008.
Title sponsor behind WSORR is Lucas Oil Products. The Series presenting sponsor is the Forest County Potawatomi Community. Nissan is the Official Vehicle of WSORR. United Trailers is the Official Trailer. Other key sponsors for WSORR in 2007 include BorgWarner, Sunoco Race Fuels, Toyo Tires, KC HiLites, Skyjacker and ATX Wheels.
