Daugherty, Kincaid First to Register for $175,000 Off-Road Weekend at Crandon (8-20-08)

CRANDON, Wisc. -- Two of the top names in off-road racing circles are the first to register for the most important big money off-road Cup races of the year to be held at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway this coming Labor Day weekend, August 29-31.

Leading the way for the 14th annual BorgWarner Shootout and a chance to be immortalized on the prestigious BorgWarner Off-Road Cup is Jerry Daugherty, Las Vegas, Nev. The 10-lap race will be held the afternoon of Sunday, August 31 on Crandon’s famous 1.5-mile track. An over-capacity crowd at Crandon is expected.

Daugherty will compete in his hot yellow Racin’ Dirty full-size Goodyear Chevrolet 4x4 (top truck pictured above). “The weekend that registrations were released for the race, I happened to be testing at Crandon Raceway and was able to register first,” said Daugherty. “I am looking forward to a big weekend at Crandon,” he said. Daugherty has developed a huge fan base in the Crandon area with his exciting style of driving.

Jeff Kincaid, the USA’s foremost PRO Light Pickup champ (#4 above), registered first for the 2nd annual Forest County Potawatomi “Decision at Sundown” PRO Light Pickup Challenge Cup race.

The PRO Light Cup race kicks off the on-track thrills at Crandon when Kincaid steps into his Traxxas Forest County Potawatomi BFG Toyota Tacoma on Friday, August 29 at 6 PM.

Kincaid, Argonne, Wisc., won the inaugural event last year. This year, Crandon Raceway and the Forest County Potawatomi have posted $20,000 for the race, making it the largest event of its type in the nation. “Both the Forest County Potawatomi and Traxxas are not only my sponsors but key sponsors of Crandon Raceway and the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing and it is always important to be number one when representing this group,” said Kincaid.

Both races will be tape-delay broadcast on SPEED TV when WSORR’s “Tour 2008” begins airing round by round this coming November.

Both Cup races are part of an enormous $175,000 available racer payback at Crandon for the BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races August 29-31.

The weekend not only features the pair of big money Cup races, but also the final two rounds of WSORR racing with championships at stake in 11 classes, two sets of qualifications, World Championship title racing, a downtown Crandon World Championship Labor Day parade, concerts, fireworks and more.
